What you say is very true, interior design is not for everyone to dabble in. It's OK if you want to do the implementation work yourself, that will save you money. You can hire the designer just as a consultant, to oversee and steer what you're doing. Interior design may seem a forbidding commitment because of the enormity of the change and the cost and trouble involved. But it should really be holistic, reflect your personality and fire your creativity too. An interior design consultant will help you do that. Then you will have a true feeling of ownership of the interior, so you'll feel relaxed and at home. I have had very happy experiences with Domane - they are an excellent firm of interior designers who do very impressive interiors.
